Laurent Commission : And after?
On October 15th and 16th FFARIQ
Symposium and Annual General meeting took place at Clarion Hotel in Quebec
City.
The weekend began with an opening speech and welcome word presented by the President. As you probably know, Mrs. Boucher has decided not to renew her mandate and it is with great emotion that she wanted to highlight and thank the involvement of the board of directors, regional committees, employees with whom she had the chance to work during her mandate, but also and especially the resources; You are the voice of the children and you are the ones taking care of them every day. Also, she has demonstrated the importance of solidarity and of standing together to defend the rights of foster families in Quebec.
By early afternoon, we had the pleasure of attending the conference “On the road to Santiago” presented by Marcel Leboeuf, during which we had the chance to experience a part of his journey along with his experiences and what led him to see life differently.
Moreover, this day was also an opportunity to hear the group PETAL Quebec who was able to offer a lot of information during their conference which focused on children with attachment disorders. Among other things, they discussed the bonding stages of relationships, the trust cycle, the process of autonomy and more. They educated us in order to change our thinking, to practice and adjust our attitudes towards children with these troubles.
Subsequently, a cocktail
followed by a banquet was offered to all guests. When dinner was over, we
unveiled the winners of prizes.
In the evening, for over an hour, Mr. Guy Nantel did not weigh his words in front of an audience gasping for more. He was able to animate the crowd and offer a show that was obviously enjoyed by all.
The Annuel General Meeting was held in the morning of October 16th fo members only. The topics discussed were the 2015-2016 activity report, the financial statements, the report of the independent auditor and the provincial election.
After counting the votes, Mrs. Genevieve Rioux was elected by the members as President of the FFARIQ for a term of four years. There was official transfer of powert between the outgoing President Mrss Boucher and Mrs.Rioux. We trust that Mrs. Rioux will carry out the mission of the FFARIQ through her involvement, skills and dedication to the foster families. Also, a discussion session was held to allow members to ask questions.
Thank you to all participants.
