COVID-19 : Real-time directives for FF.
Laurent Commission : And after?
The FFARIQ takes the floor in the public area in order to make the issues and challenges facing foster families well known. In all transparency, we allow people to better understand the role of the FA.
In the context of the increase in reports and the lack of workers at the DYP, radio hosts Caroline St-Hilaire and Varda Étienne wanted to talk to our president Geneviève Rioux about the situation of foster families.
They talked about recognition, accompaniment and support leading to the increasing disengagement of foster families. Once again, the FFARIQ president was able to demonstrate that it is urgent to give foster families resources to help them help foster children, while reminding them how wonderful it is to be a foster family.
The empathy of the two presenters, especially Varda Étienne whose mother has been a foster parent for 40 years, led to a very interesting interview that you can listen to by clicking this link:
According to the Mauricie DPJ, an upsurge in requests due to COVID and a lack of foster families and places in youth centers forces them to place toddlers and young babies in group homes with changing educators. every 8 hours. These children need the arms of mothers, comfort and affection. We are of the opinion that the pandemic has a very broad back since the FFARIQ has long offered solutions to help recruit and retain FFs.
At the same time, we learned from TVA that a family was refused accreditation because the DPJ did not come to assess the environment (TVA Nouvelles : Correct for an accredited daycare, but not for the DPJ). Nonsense!
Many media across Canada have published our position on this subject, here are some publications:

Although the FFARIQ continues to believe in the relevance and rigor of the work carried out by the Laurent commission, she was disappointed with the postponement of the tabling of the long-awaited report. From these findings can undertake actions for the well-being of children and FF.
