26 October 2022 - Tva news report - New foster families without resources

A woman from the Mauricie region had to give up her dream of becoming a foster family.

After multiple requests, Valérie Mongrain was unable to obtain the support and services needed to properly care for the child entrusted to her. A situation that leaves her with a feeling of failure, despite the fact that she has tried everything to get help.

2 August 2021 - Radio Interview: Foster Care Shortage

Our president Geneviève Rioux discussed recognition and support for foster families with Caroline St-Hilaire and Varda Étienne on QUB Radio.

In the context of the increase in reports and the lack of workers at the DYP, radio hosts Caroline St-Hilaire and Varda Étienne wanted to talk to our president Geneviève Rioux about the situation of foster families.

They talked about recognition, accompaniment and support leading to the increasing disengagement of foster families. Once again, the FFARIQ president was able to demonstrate that it is urgent to give foster families resources to help them help foster children, while reminding them how wonderful it is to be a foster family.

3 December 2020 - Toddlers and babies in temporary group homes: not eligible

According to the Mauricie DPJ, an upsurge in requests due to COVID and a lack of foster families and places in youth centers forces them to place toddlers and young babies in group homes with changing educators. every 8 hours. These children need the arms of mothers, comfort and affection. We are of the opinion that the pandemic has a very broad back since the FFARIQ has long offered solutions to help recruit and retain FFs.

At the same time, we learned from TVA that a family was refused accreditation because the DPJ did not come to assess the environment (TVA Nouvelles : Correct for an accredited daycare, but not for the DPJ). Nonsense!
