Sports and cultural allowances: petition submitted

Ms. Gagnon was accompanied by our Vice-President, Annie Blouin, our legal counsel, Me Éric Martineau, and former DYP protector, Karolane Chénier-Richard. The petition was submitted by Brigitte B. Garceau, MP for Robert-Baldwin.

A response from the Minister responsible for Social Services, Lionel Carmant, is expected in early December.

With this petition, we want to simplify the process for reimbursing the costs of sporting and cultural activities for the children we foster.

It is unacceptable that the children we care for are deprived of activities essential to their development because of the bureaucracy of the institutions. This administrative burden has a real impact on foster families.

Our President took advantage of the occasion to raise awareness of our lobbying efforts among Mrs Garceau and her colleague, Enrico Ciccone, Member of Parliament for Marquette.
