The JEFAR Research Center is a center attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences at Laval University. Their research is aimed to develop knowledge concerning the adaptation of children and families at risk. They bring together 17 regular researchers and 10 associate researchers from five different disciplinary fields (social service, psychology, sexology, psychoeducation and law), whose common target is the development and knowledge transfer aimed to promote better adaptation of children and families at risk.
The JEFAR group has always been interested in children placed in foster families. They participated in several of our symposium and trainings. We have been partners with this team for over 15 years. Their research projects and their work with our clients are always carried out with a learning exchange and mutual assistance. We strongly believe that their work provides a better understanding of the situations encountered by the foster families and the children. The FFARIQ also offers a scholarship every year to a student with a project that stands out in direct connection with the foster families in Quebec.
