Laurent Commission : And after?
The sad story of young girls who were victims of sexual abuse in a foster family in the Quebec region made the headlines last week. Our interim president, Mélanie Gagnon, has given a few media interviews on this subject.
“It’s shocking, deplorable and even unacceptable,” she said in an interview with a Radio-Canada journalist.
Remember that a first denunciation of the situation was made in 2004. The young girl was not then taken seriously. " It is unacceptable. Collectively, we must ensure that this does not happen,” mentioned Mélanie Gagnon in an interview on Radio-Canada radio.
She recalled that the FFARIQ is calling for the establishment of an independent and completely autonomous commissioner dedicated to the well-being of children (bill 37). “A commissioner would give children a voice. These children must be listened to. The interests of the child must be taken into account in 2024,” she added.
In condemning these actions, Ms. Gagnon recalled that there are many good host families in Quebec who only ask to work in collaboration with the DPJ for the good of the children entrusted to them.
