Laurent Commission : And after?
A child in a close-knit family on the North Shore recently learned that he would no longer have a caseworker. Why was this? Because she came from a private agency, and the Legault government recently implemented its decision to stop using private agencies to fill staffing needs.
In this case, this child will have seen 13 different caregivers in 9 years!
These children, who often have great needs, are thus deprived of regular follow-up due to a lack of staff. And, not least, the bond of trust has to be re-established every time there's a change of caregiver."We've just been put on life support".
In an interview with Le Manic newspaper, Mélanie Gagnon, interim president of FFARIQ and regional president for the Côte-Nord region, reminded us that it's the children who are penalized.
"By taking away the agencies that used to give us a little breath, they've just put us on life support, and in that, it's the children who pay, because they don't receive the follow-up appropriate to their situation," deplored Ms. Gagnon.
She would have liked her region to be granted a derogation while flying teams were put in place to avoid a breakdown in services.
