The Fédération des familles d’accueil du Québec has been bringing together foster families from all over Quebec since 1974. For over 40 years, the FFARIQ has defended foster families’ and intermediate resources’ rights, has supported them in their commitment to the children, has endeavored to improve working conditions and has placed a high value on partnerships with various institutions and their employees.
In 2009, the Federation became an organization for resources authorised to negotiate a collective agreement for these foster families and intermediate resources and their rights under the new name, the Fédération des familles d’accueil et ressources intermédiaires du Québec (FFARIQ).
To negotiate and conclude a collective agreement that establishes and maintains fair working conditions for all and to ensure the welfare and safety of foster families and intermediate resources.
To investigate, defend and develop the economic, social and moral interests of its members.
To promote and enhance the role of foster families and intermediate resources in Quebec.
To inform and train corporate members.
To collaborate with various establishments in the support of current services and improve those offered to foster children through making their specific needs known.
To help, within its mandate, foster families and intermediate resources with records requiring special assistance in dealing with the Ministry of Health and Social Services along with other collaborating offices.
To ensure that Quebec foster families and intermediate resources’ interests are respected.
To support regional committees in the exercising of their functions through the help of human resources and materials.
Our fundamental priorities and core values are to make certain that foster resources who ensure the well-being of children are stable and committed.
In order to accomplish this goal, the Federation makes every effort to properly train and inform its members. Our newspaper, l’Inform’accueil, published three times a year, is filled with a host of very specific information concerning intervention, partnerships, contracts, etc.
